Strategic Planning Update

As you know, we are in the middle of creating a new strategic plan for Bemidji State University.  The University Planning Council (UPC), the steering group for creation of that plan, meets monthly.  You can view the latest meeting of that group via the Livestream archive by going to the president’s page, where you will also find updates regarding the strategic planning process and the work of each sub-group:

This is YOUR chance to help determine the future direction of Bemidji State University, and we invite you to participate.  You do not need to be a member of the University Planning Council to contribute.  Please visit the president’s page, read through the updates from the University Planning Council meetings and sub-groups, and give us your thoughts and ideas.

You can do this several ways:

  1. Contact the chair of any of the sub-groups to find out when they meet and attend their meetings (they are listed on the above web page).
  2. Attend the next University Planning Council meeting and participate.
  3. Contact any member of the University Planning Council directly with your thoughts and comments.
  4. Get in touch with Jennifer Atteberry or Dr. Martin Tadlock.  As co-facilitators of the UPC, we will pass along your thoughts and suggestions to the UPC.

The university strategic plan will guide future decision making at Bemidji State University as our level one plan.  All other plans (master academic plan, facilities plan,  enrollment management plan, college level plans, department level plans, etc.) are level two and three plans and will link to the university strategic plan.  Institutional priorities in the strategic plan will influence our work at the unit level for the next several years as resources will be allocated based upon priorities that emerge from this plan.  How bold we are in addressing the future of higher education in northern Minnesota will be a result of how bold we are in our strategic planning.

As trite as it may sound, there is truth in the old maxim:  Those who fail to plan; plan to fail.

We invite you to engage in this planning process with us!
