BSU students compete at national singing contest

Thirteen Bemidji State University students participated in The National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition, held Nov. 1-2 at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn.

Through NATS, students have the opportunity to showcase their progress and hard work in their performing careers by competing and performing for teachers and students from colleges and universities from across Minnesota. Students receive constructive criticism and guidance from teachers and fellow musicians. Finalists are to perform in a final recital.

Students also compete for cash prizes and recognition as well as get the opportunity to view singers at all ages and levels perform.

Dr. Cory Renbarger, associate professor of music at Bemidji State, participated as a judge for the competition.
