BSU Degree Leads Berg to Career Managing Minnesota’s Fisheries

Baudette native and Bemidji State alum Greg Berg has been promoted to assistant fisheries supervisor for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. He’ll help manage fisheries in Aitkin County, which involves surveying lakes and streams, stocking fish and working on projects related to fish habitats. Berg and other fisheries supervisors work with anglers and lake associations to set regulations that will help increase fish populations and the size and health of a lake’s fisheries. Berg grew up fishing Lake of the Woods/Rainy River, where he became interested in fisheries biology. His current job as an assistant fisheries supervisor is just one of several jobs he’s had with the Minnesota DNR’s fisheries department since earning his degree in aquatic biology and fisheries at BSU.
