Bemidji Pioneer: BSU students host homelessness awareness dinner

BSU’s American Indian Resource Center will host an student-led event to raise awareness of homelessness in Bemidji from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Students will provide a free lasagna dinner for anyone in need of a good meal in the great room of the AIRC on the BSU campus, 1500 Birchmont Drive NE. Students will be distributing care packages containing personal care items to those in need. Community members are encouraged to donate items for inclusion in the care packages. Suggestions include lip balm, toothbrushes and toothpaste, band-aids or other adhesive bandages, or hand and foot warmers.

Donations can be dropped off at the AIRC or at Shannon’s Art and Soul in downtown Bemidji.

For more information on specific donation needs for the care packages, or to volunteer to serve during the community meal, contact Jessi Eickstadt at (218) 760-2046 or JEickstadt@bemidjistate.edu.
