USA Curling National Championship Includes Two BSU Students, One Alumnus

Three curlers with ties to Bemidji State University – two current students and one alumnus – are participating in the USA Curling National Championship in Jacksonville, Fla.

BSU students Alex Fenson and Mark Fenner, along with BSU alum and 2014 Olympian Jared Zezel, are competing in the championships, which began Feb. 6 and continue through Feb. 13.

Fenson is a junior in exercise science and Fenner is a senior in biology. Both are from Bemidji. Zezel graduated in 2015 with an exercise science degree.

There were 10 competing men’s teams this past Saturday where two-time national champion Craig Brown of Madison, Wis., rolled his team to a 7-4 win, who has Bemidji State’s alumni Jared Zezel on his team. They defeated Korey Dropkin’s junior national champions, a team that includes Fenson and Fenner.

Both teams will be playing throughout the week, with the men’s final set for Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla.
