Simonson Design Studios, a building and architecture firm with offices in St. Paul, visited Bemidji State’s Construction Design and Materials course on Jan. 17 to demonstrate 3-D and augmented reality construction rendering technology. Kimberly Simonson, the company’s executive vice president , and a team of technologists demonstrated how 3-D and augmented reality have changed the field of construction design. Students were able to demo the technology and will use it as part of a class project to design and build a “tiny house” as a capstone project for the semester-long course. Simonson Design Studios is sponsoring the tiny house project and is providing ongoing design services and material support.
