Faculty Achievements

  • Dr. Mahmoud Al-Odeh, associate professor of technology, art and design, has published an article, “The Viability of Residential Grid-Connected Solar Photovoltaic Systems In the State of Indiana,” in the Journal of Business, Economics and Finance. He co-authored the piece with researchers from Indiana State University. The article recapped Al-Odeh’s research that aimed to measure the financial viability of installing and using a residential grid-connected solar energy system while predicting its performance in 18 locations in Indiana.
  • Dr. Season Ellison, assistant professor of interdisciplinary studies, co-authored a book chapter, “Performative Texts and the Pedagogical Theatre: Alison Bechdel’s Fun Home as Compositional Model,” in an upcoming edited collection Teaching Graphic Novels, edited by Alissa Burger. She co-authored the chapter with Dr. William Cordeiro from Northern Arizona University’s Honors College. Ellison also will direct “Hedda Helmer: Ibsenite Heroine,” a 10-minute play by Joe Stollenwerk, for the Dramatists Lab for Mid-America Theatre Conference in Houston in March. This presentation will be the play’s first national reading and production teams and playwrights were selected through a juried process.
  • Dr. Andrew Hafs, associate professor of biology, published “Seasonal Changes in Condition of Appalachian Brook Troutin the January issue of the North American Journal of Fisheries Management.
  • Dr. Donna Pawlowski, professor of speech communication published “Communication Civility Codes: Positive Communication Through the Students’ Eyes” in the Communication Teacher journal. The article demonstrates the importance of working with students to understand and appreciate respectful communication and civility in the classroom.
  • Dr. Katie Peterson, assistant professor of chemistry, authored a paper, “Fe- and Ln-DOTAm-F12 Are Effective Paramagnetic Fluorine Contrast Agents for MRI in Water and Blood,” that was published in a recent issue of Inorganic Chemistry.

  • Dr. Marty J. Wolf, professor of computer science, has published “Data, Signals and Information in Digital Computation with co-author Nir Fresco in Logique et Analysean international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes research in logic, philosophy of logic and/or mathematics, argumentation-theory, and analytical philosophy.

New Hires

  • Jennifer Baumann has joined the Center for Professional Development, honors program and gender studies/womens studies as an office and administrative specialist, effective Jan. 3.
  • Sandy Beck has accepted the position of facilities services supervisor for the university’s academic buildings. She has worked at BSU since 1992.
  • Jessica Carter has joined the Department of Human Performance, Sport and Health as an adjunct instructor, effective Jan. 4.
  • Chad Cuddihy has joined the Department of Nursing as an adjunct instructor, effective Jan. 4.
  • Jacqueline Deer has joined the Department of Chemistry as an adjunct instructor, effective Jan. 4.
