Freshwater Fishing Hall of Famer Headlines Third Annual TAD Talks

Bemidji State University’s School of Technology, Art and Design features eight speakers and a keynote address from fishing legend Ted Takasaki for its third annual TAD Talks event, scheduled for April 27.

TAD Talks begins at 5 p.m. in Bangsberg Hall 250 on the BSU campus. The event is open free to all.

TAD Talks, modeled after the famous TED Talks series, is a multi-disciplinary event featuring 10-15 minute speeches from live presenters. Presentations are intended to promote understanding and seek meaning in issues involving technology, creativity, innovation and the entire process of life.

  • Nicole O’Leary, Boston, Minn.; creative director, The Expo Group; “Creative and Design is Taking Over! What Do You Need to be Prepared?”
  • Shane Fjerstad, Roseau, Minn.; quality systems engineer, Polaris; “Making Social Media Work For You”
  • Dave Brown, St. Louis, Mo.; vice president of sales, Optima; “3D Printing: Exploring its Impact on Exhibit Fabrication and Thought Process”
  • Jeremiah Liend, St. Paul, Minn.; film producer, Tower Hill Productions; “Gonzo Theater: A Savage Nightmare Journey into the Heart of the Great American Play”
  • Kim Simonson, Grand Forks, N.D.; owner, Simonson Design Studios; “Virtual Reality in the Building Industry”
  • David Sherman, Chicago, Ill.; senior vice president, The Freeman Company; “Guess What Your Real Major Is?”

Takasaki’s keynote address is entitiled “Pursue Your Passion.” Takasaki, a member of the International Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, is past president of Lindy Fishing Tackle Co.

Randall Acker, president at Exhibitor Meeting Group and an adjunct instructor at BSU, will emcee the event.
