  • Erika Bailey-Johnson, sustainability director, and Anna Carlson, assistant sustainability director, attended the 2017 AASHE Conference & Expo, held Oct. 15–18 in San Antonio. Bailey-Johnson and Carlson helped deliver a half-day Oct. 15 workshop entitled “Sustainability, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Across the Curriculum,” an Oct. 16 presentation, “Ten Years of Including Wellness in the Sustainability Model,” and an Oct. 17 presentation with BSU graduate student Jordan Lutz, “Working in the Ivory Tower: Breaking Down the Walls of Academia.”
  • Dr. Eric Forsyth, professor of human performance, sport & health, has traveled several times to Louisiana and has been invited to serve as a member of the foundation and advisory boards for the Honey Break Confluence Group, which consults on branding with the Honey Brake Lodge in Janesville, La. He attended a Louisiana State 4-H Council Meeting and was guest speaker in a pair of undergraduate sports marketing courses and an Orientation to Graduate Studies course at Louisiana State University, and attended a meeting of the National 4-H Shooting Sports Council at Honey Brake Lodge.
  • Dr. Jesse Grant

    Dr. Jesse Grant, interim dean of students, was named as a member of the Diamond Honoree Class of 2018 by the American College Personnel Association. He and 10 fellow honorees will be recognized at the ACPA’s 2018 convention, March 11-14 in Houston. Diamond Honorees are recognized by the association for outstanding and sustained contributions to higher education and to student affairs. The ACPA solicits donations on behalf of Diamond Honorees to support the association’s priorities, including research, scholarly activities and scholarships for members to participate in professional development opportunities.

  • Mark Morrissey, assistant director of campus recreation, attended the 24th Annual Wilderness Risk Management Conference in Portland Maine. The conference hosts the nation’s foremost experts in safety skills instruction, medical training standards, crisis response, and institutional risk management for the outdoor recreation industry.  There were topics presented on accident investigation, crisis communication, new standards in spinal care assessment, and recent legal developments and case law in the area of standard of care.
  • Dr. Shannon Norman

    Dr. Shannon Norman, assistant professor of human performance, sport & health, will present at a Dynamic Physical Education K-12 Workshop April 7 at Bemidji High School. The workshop will include a series of one-hour sessions including lectures and on-court demonstrations for current and future physical education teachers and students.

  • Dr. Anton “Tony” Treuer, professor of Ojibwe, was the opening speaker at the “Let’s Talk!” dinner conversation Oct. 25 in Walker, Minn.
