New Hires & Appointments

• Carissa Menefee has joined the Minnesota State Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence | ATE Regional Center as communications specialist, effective Dec. 11. She most recently worked in Grand Rapids, Minn., for Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital and brings a wealth of marketing and communications experience to the center. She has a bachelor’s degree in communication studies with an emphasis in organizational and professional communication from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.

Faculty & Staff Achievements

Dr. John Gonzalez, professor of psychology, and three others with BSU ties were honored at the 2017 Minnesota Indian Education Association’s annual conference in Welch, Minn. Gonzalez was named Post Secondary Teacher of the Year and Naomi Johnson was named Post Secondary Student of the Year

In addition, Dr. Donald Day was honored with a lifetime achievement award, and Roger Aitken was honored posthumously with a lifetime achievement award.

Day was director of BSU’s American Indian Resource Center from 2008-2012, and Aitken, a 1973 BSU alumnus who died in February, served 20 years as a member of the BSU Alumni Board of Directors and the BSU Foundation board.

Bill Joyce

• Bill Joyce, associate professor of accountancy, has received Quality Matters certification for his course MBA6100, Managerial Accounting. It is Joyce’s second course to earn Quality Matters certification; his ACCT3140 Fraud Examination course was certified earlier this year. Quality Matters is a faculty-centered peer review process designed to certify the quality of online and blended-delivery courses.
