Dr. Norman Awarded 3rd Annual Christine M. Imbra Innovative Leadership Award

Bemidji State University’s Dr. Shannon Norman, professor of human performance, sport and health, received the 3rd Annual Christine M. Imbra Innovative Leadership Award. This award recognizes dedicated professionals who demonstrate leadership and innovation in the field of higher education. The award honors the work of Christine M. Imbra, professor emerita of higher education administration at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Norman was nominated for her hard work, dedication to student success and being an innovative leader and role model. The award was presented to her at the Spring Leadership Institute Conference held at St. Cloud State on May 17.

About Dr. Shannon Norman

Norman started teaching at Bemidji State in 2014. Prior to that, she taught and supervised physical education majors at the University of South Dakota in the kinesiology and sport science department. She also spent 12 years at Duluth Edison Charter Schools teaching kindergarten through eighth grade health and physical education. She is an active board member for the Minnesota Society of Health and Physical Educators (MNSHAPE), serving as the representative for higher education.

About the Conference
The annual conference is an opportunity to explore research, strategies and best practices in fields such as student affairs, academic affairs, administration, college counseling and athletic administration. The Leadership Institute provides more than 20 sessions by administrators, student affairs professionals, faculty and graduate students from across the region.
