Bemidji State’s Dr. Dan Allosso Publishes Open Education Resources Textbook

Dr. Dan Allosso, assistant professor of history, completed his Open Education Resources (OER) textbook entitled “American Environmental History” in participation with the Minnesota State OER Learning Circle.

His textbook is now available in the Minnesota Open Textbook Library and with the Minnesota Libraries Publishing Project. He has added lecture videos and audio recordings to the textbook that align with each chapter, giving students the option to listen to the book and have quick review sessions for quizzes and exams. Allosso used this textbook for his People of the Environment class during the spring 2019 semester at Bemidji State.

In the future, Allosso is planning to publish three additional textbooks about U.S. history, world history and the history of high technology.

Allosso will present at the 2019 Open Education Global Conference in Milan, Italy on Nov. 26-28 where he will discuss all perspectives and issues that surround shifting a campus to utilize OER materials.
