A.C. Clark Library to Debut New Media Recording Room for Students & Faculty

Bemidji State University’s Teaching and Learning Center and the A.C. Clark library have partnered to create a new media recording room designed to facilitate easy video recording with the push of a button.

Video Lectures, demonstrations, student presentations, introductions and course updates will all be easily accessible for students, faculty and staff to generate for a variety of audiences. The new media recording room was set up with several recording scenarios in mind, namely those that will supplement course material and syllabi.

Students, faculty and staff will also be able to choose from several video layout options to make instructional, supplemental or promotional videos for campus. These options include the ability to display side-by-side video, picture in picture, picture by picture and more.

“We have also designed the room to allow for higher-end recording that may require staff assistance,” Brian Jambor, educational technologist at Bemidji State, said. “This means that the room can accommodate use of a green screen and two or more cameras. It’s a work in progress as items are being set up and new features are being added as we go.”

An opening reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the recording center was held in the the Teaching and Learning Center on Dec. 11 in celebration of the new space.

“We had a great turn-out and we are excited about the creative ways in which people expressed using the room,” Jambor said. “ We had interest in class and department introductions, student practice speeches, supplemental lecture material and even yoga instruction. Faculty even expressed using the space for live classes as well.”
