Bemidji State Beavers Brave the Cold for Winterfest

During a winter festival held on the lakeside lawn outside the Hobson Memorial Union on Jan. 21 students snowshoed across campus and on Lake Bemidji, had s’mores next to campus’ outdoor hearth – a fireplace built on campus in 1932 and participated in a “build-a-beaver” workshop.

“We’re wanted to showcase some of the fun activities that Bemidji State students get to participate in all winter long,” Muriel Kingery, associate director of the Hobson Memorial Union, said. “With indoor events like crafts and free snacks, and outdoor activities like snowshoeing and s’mores over the roaring fire in the hearth, we were excited to showcase life on-campus for both our returning students, and the prospective students here for an Admissions’ Campus Preview event.”

The event was sponsored by the Bemidji State Campus Activities Board, Department of Campus Recreation and Hobson Memorial Union. Closed to the public, open to the media.
