Ryan Webber, adjunct instructor of music at Bemidji State University, has turned his love for film and television music into regular contributions for Film Score Monthly, one of the world’s leading outlets for the appreciation of film, television and video game compositions.

In its July 2026 edition, Webber explored John Williams’ score to this summer’s Steven Spielberg film, “Disclosure Day,” in the context of the legendary, 30-film collaboration between Williams and Spielberg that has spanned more than five decades.

“People who have attended my Symphonic Band concerts or have taken my Music and Film class know I’m a John Williams fan,” he said. “The article was an opportunity to connect that score to his bigger projects and some of his lesser-known scores that people may not recognize.”

Webber described the “Disclosure Day” score as a “tribute to Williams’ extraordinary career” and illustrated instances where that film’s music harkens back to key moments from Williams’ other notable work, including scores for “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.”

Webber has been a regular contributor to Film Score Monthly for more than three years. Amongst his contributions were a score review for the 2025 film “Predator: Badlands,” and interviews with The Newton Brothers and Jeff Russo, composers for the Disney+ series “Daredevil: Born Again” and the Paramount+ series “Starfleet Academy,” respectively.

The July 2026 issue of Film Score Monthly also includes reviews of soundtracks for the AppleTV reboot of “Cape Fear” and this summer’s “Supergirl” film, and an interview with the score composers for the recently released James Bond video game, “007: First Light.”
