Freshman Merit-Based Scholarship Program
  • Students who receive a renewable merit scholarship must maintain at least a 3.25 GPA.
  • Merit scholarships are only available for students enrolled in on-campus programs; online and off-site students are not eligible.
  • Please note, scholarship award packaging may not exceed the total cost of attendance at BSU.
  • ACT re-takes or new transcripts reflecting improved GPA to ‘upgrade’ scholarships will be considered through mid-May. The April ACT test is the final opportunity to upgrade a score for scholarship.

$1,000 Minnesota Community College Transfer Scholarship

Students who transfer directly from a Minnesota Community College with an Associate of Arts degree, or a completed Minnesota Transfer Curriculum with a 3.5 or higher GPA, are automatically eligible to receive this $1,000 scholarship. Students must apply for admission by June 1st.

Alumni Relative Scholarship

New students who are relatives of active BSU alumni can apply for the Alumni Relative Scholarship.

Sanford Health Military and Veteran Scholarship

Veterans, guard/reserve or active-duty military service members are eligible for a $5,000 scholarship from Sanford Health created by its Veterans and Military Services Department. The Sanford Health Military and Veteran Scholarship is accepting applications for the award, which will honor someone who possesses exceptional character and leadership in service, academics and community involvement. Interested students should download and complete the application. The deadline to submit applications is Aug. 31.  The below link provides all the details and application.

Hunt Family Scholarship
To children of employees of Hunt Utilities Group LLC, preference for women over 40 years of age from the Pequot Lakes or Pine River, Minnesota areas, preference to students majoring in Pre-Medicine.

AAUW-Mabel Parks Scholarship
Criteria: A female student in her junior or senior year with a priority given to a student from Northern Minnesota. Minimum GPA of 3.2, demonstrated potential for leadership.

Distance Learning

Ed Gersich Distance Education Scholarship
Criteria: The recipient must be at least 25 years old, an admitted external studies student who is currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree. The recipient must have at least a 3.0 GPA and be of junior or senior status. The scholarship shall be awarded alternating years between a male and female student.
