Submissions sought for "Fire Ring Voices"

BEMIDJI, Minn. – “Fire Ring Voices,” a journal of men’s writing and art published annually at Bemidji State University, is accepting submissions until March 1, 2008.

In its fifth year, “Fire Ring Voices” publishes the work of new and established male writers and artists from Minnesota and surrounding areas. Submissions covering a wide array of issues and topics related to the male experience are welcomed. Poetry, fiction and non-fiction will be accepted.

Written work must be word-processed or typed, with the author’s name, title of piece, and genre included on every page. Up to five poems, with a maximum of 20 lines per poem, and four prose pieces of 1,000 words or less may be submitted.

Visual art must be black and white, with the name of the artist and the title marked on every piece. Packaging and postage must be included if the artist wishes the return of the work.

All submissions should include a letter of introduction, a short bio suitable for publication, and contact information for the author.

Written work will not be returned, and electronic submissions will not be accepted.

The selection of pieces for publication will be completed in March by an editorial board, at which time notification letters will be sent to those who submitted material.
