Sustainable Tuesdays lineup continues Jan. 21

Sustainable Tuesdays, a weekly presentation on topics related to environmental and sustainability issues presented by the Bemidji State University Sustainability Office, continues its January lineup with a swap meet and personal organization event and a workshop on green cleaning solutions for households and personal care.

HashTag-SustainableTuesdaysSustainable Tuesdays events are held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Rail River Folk School, located at 303 Railroad St. SW in Bemidji. They are open free to the public unless otherwise noted.

Jan. 21: Idea, Solution and Stuff Swap
In the spirit of the new year, this workshop will provide tips on how to better manage the things we keep around us with unique and thrifty methods to get organized.

Participants are encouraged to bring unwanted items for a swap to be held at the workshop. Items should be in good enough condition to be used again by someone else. Anything left over after the swap will be donated throughout the community.

Jan. 28: Green Up Your Cleanup
As a followup to a December workshop on everyday toxins, this presentation will focus on items found in typical household cupboards. This “green cleaning” workshop will teach participants how to green up household cleaners and personal care products, and will make samples of a homemade all-purpose cleaner and sugar scrub to take home.

Sustainable Tuesdays are a partnership between Bemidji State’s Sustainability Office, the Indigenous Environmental Network, Minnesota GreenCorps and the Rail River Folk School. The Sustainable Tuesdays presentations aim to draw upon the strengths of the region’s diversity to create a sustainable Bemidji.
