Open auditions for "Twelfth Night" set for Feb. 4-5

BEMIDJI, Minn. - Open auditions for the Bemidji State University Department of Theatre’s production of William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” will be held from 7-10:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4 and Tuesday, Feb. 5. Auditions will be held in Room 228, the Green Room, of Bemidji State’s Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex.

Prospective actors can sign up for five minute slots in which they can sing, if interested in a singing role, and perform a monologue or cold reading. Sign up sheets are located on the bulletin board across from the Theatre Office, Bangsberg 101.

Callbacks will be on Wednesday, Feb. 6 and Thursday, Feb. 7.

“Twelfth Night” explores the joy, pain and folly of love. It is a poignant comedy that stages the many faces of love: passionate love, courtly love, blind love, brotherly love, love unrequited, love misdirected, love found and love lost. Bemidji State’s production uses not only Shakespeare’s text, but also the music of the jazz age to illuminate these different dimensions of the human experience. The production will be under the direction of Patrick Carriere.

Performances of “Twelfth Night” will be held on April 11, 12, 18, 19 and 20, 2008.

More information on the production and the auditions is available by contacting Mary Knox-Johnson, (218) 755-3934,, or Pat Carriere, (218) 755-3901,, at the Bemidji State University Department of Theatre.
