BSU students participate in Laporte Health Fair

On February 21, three Bemidji State University seniors participated in the Laporte (Minn.) Health Fair. The fair educated K-12 students, family and community members on various health topics.

Amanda Lom, Rebecca Jerry, and Michelle Williamson of the BSU Lifestyle Educators attended the fair to present the health implications and high costs of tobacco use. They also highlighted Bemidji State’s Tobacco Free Campus policy.

An estimated 150 people visited the Lifestyle Educators table at the fair and prizes, including chocolates, t-shirts, cups and  toys, were awarded to those who by spun the “smokers roulette wheel.”

The Lifestyle Educators also collaborated with the BSU Admissions office and made available BSU recruitment materials for high school students.

For more information, please contact Jay Passa, health education coordinator with Bemidji State’s Student Center for Health and Counseling Services, (218) 755-2080.
