You are required to live on campus in one of our residence halls during your first year. The Department of Residential Life at BSU is committed to creating a caring environment that encourages academic success, individual respect, personal growth and a sense of responsibility toward our community and global society.

Residence hall services are provided as a part of the residence hall living experience and are included in the living cost of each resident. Please visit Office of Residential Life for more detailed information regarding our on-campus housing and meal options. Housing is available in the BSU residence halls during all breaks. If you wish to stay at BSU during breaks, you should discuss this option with your Residential Life staff.

Applying for On-Campus Housing

Instructions on how to apply for on-campus housing and meal plans are sent in your Admitted Student Packet with the admission letter and I-20/DS-2019. You may also access the application form online through Housing & Res Life.

If you have questions about the housing application, please call Residential Life at (218) 755-3750 or email reslife@bemidjistate.edu.

Moving In

The earliest that new students can move into their on-campus housing is Saturday, January 1. Saturday (January 1) and Sunday (January 2) arrivals will be charged an additional $25-$30 per night. You would not pay an additional housing fee if you arrive on Monday, January 4.

If you arrive prior to January 1, you are responsible for all costs and arrangements for food, lodging and transportation. For lodging, you can check with Bemidji-area motels or make arrangements with friends/family. BSU food and other services are extremely limited over the winter break. We therefore advise you to book your plane into Bemidji (BJI, airport code) no earlier than Saturday, January 1 and no later than Monday, January 4.

Be sure to contact your family/friends at home to let them know that you arrived safely!
