Faculty and Staff Achievements – October, 2012

Dr. Donna Palivec, professor of human performance, health and sport, taught a League of American Cyclists Traffic Skills 101 class with BSU alum Cody Bartz during a Sept. 14-15 event on campus coordinated by the BSU Sustainability Office.

Other participants in the workshop included Dr. Muriel Gilman, professor emerita of human performance, sport and health; Ashley Phoenix, a gradate assistant in environmental studies; Caitlyn Schuchhardt, BSU’s GreenCorps member, BSU students Alex Miller and Robie Rock, and community members Hans and Judy Roberts from Brainerd; manager for the Northern Minnesota Bicycle Friendly Community Program, Natalie Gillie from Bemidji; Diane Pittman; and Dan DeVault.

Tim Rundquist, assistant professor of business administration, celebrated his 50th birthday this summer with a deep-sea fishing trip off the coast of Vancouver Island, Canada. He and two friends spent four days reeling in king salmon (right), coho salmon, and bottomfish, including a 50-pound halibut. His freezer is still full of fish, if you’re willing to barter!

Dr. William Scheela, professor of business administration, had an article,  “Do Institutions Matter for Business Angel Investing in Emerging Asian Markets?” written with Thawatchai Jittrapanun (Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand) published in “Venture Capital: An International Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance,” Volume 14, Number 4, pp. 289-308. 2012.
