Jinhua University Ambassadors Forge Partnership with BSU

Nursing students and faculty from Jinhua University in Jinhua, China, wrapped up a week-long stay in Bemidji on Sept. 24. The group, which included six of the university’s leading students and three faculty members, toured the nursing programs at both Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College and visited health care facilities throughout the Bemidji community.

While much research has been done on communities displaced by construction projects such as hydroelectric dams, but according to Dr. Mark Lawrence, professor of geography at Bemidji State University, comparatively little has been done on communities displaced in efforts to expand space for wildlife in the name of environmental conservation.

CJ Junior Wins Scholarship to Attend Emergency Managers’ Conference

Ryan Newhouse, a junior criminal justice major at Bemidji State University, has received the 55th Annual Association of Minnesota Emergency Managers Conference Scholarship. The Warroad, Minn., native is the first Bemidji State student to receive this scholarship, which will send him to the Association of Minnesota Emergency Managers conference, Sept. 20-23 in Breezy Point, Minn.

New Class of Alumni Award Winners to be Recognized at 2015 Honors Gala

The Bemidji State University Alumni Association and Foundation will recognize five individuals as alumni award winners at the 2015 Honors Gala Oct. 2. Bemidji’s own Richard Siegert ’67 will receive the Alumni Service Award. Human rights worker Katrina Jorene Maliamauv ’07 of Selangor, Malaysia, has earned the 2015 Young Alumni Award. The 2015 Outstanding Alumni are Sandra (Henderson) Anderson ’82 of Eden Prairie, Joe Grabowski ’81 of Plymouth and Roger Reierson ’74 of Fargo.
