Orientation Weekend, Aug. 19-21, Marks Official Start of 2016-17 Academic Year

The doors officially open on Bemidji State University’s 2016-17 academic year with Orientation Weekend, Aug. 19-21. Orientation welcomes all students who are new to the university, including both first-time college students and students transferring to BSU from other institutions. More than 800 students are expected to participate.

Beaver Fever: 2016 Education Cup Champions

Bemidji State University’s “Beaver Fever” team of students, faculty and staff had its best showing ever at Bemidji’s annual Lake Bemidji Dragon Boat Festival, successfully defending its Education Cup and placing eighth overall.

Finalists Named for Interim Dean of Northwest Technical College

Dr. Faith Hensrud, president of Northwest Technical College and Bemidji State University, today named James D. Clark, Paula T. Langteau and Thomas M. Whelihan as finalists for the position of interim dean of Northwest Technical College. The Bemidji community is invited to meet the finalists during open forums on Aug. 4-5.

A Rare Changing of the Guard: Jilek Named Director of Choral Programs

For only the fourth time in nearly eight decades, Bemidji State University has named a new director of choral programs in its Department of Music. When Dr. Dwight Jilek joins the BSU campus community this fall, he will be called upon to continue a legacy of vocal music education that began in 1937 when Carl O. Thompson was hired to teach vocal music and music theory and history.
