New Hires

  • John Grogan has joined The TAD School as an adjunct instructor, effective Oct. 21.
  • Stephanie Mattson has joined BSU Alumni and Foundation as an office and administrative specialist, effective Oct. 24.
  • Melissa Truax has joined the Student Center for Health and Counseling as a psychologist, effective Oct. 20.
  • Michael Weeks has joined Procurement and Logistics as a central services administrative specialist, effective Oct. 5.

Faculty and Staff Achievements

  • BSU’s STEM Scholars learning community discussed preparing for graduation and beyond on Oct. 5. STEM students Bethaney Giles and Gena Hoefs led a discussion on preparing for graduate or professional school or the work force. After the student presentation, the group attended Dr. Marty J. Wolf’s Honors Council Lecture Series presentation, “Academic Freedom v. Information and Communication Technologies: Challenges for Faculty and Tech Policies.” The STEM Scholars group is directed by Dr. Todd Frauenholtz, professor of mathematics.
  • Dr. Michael Hamann, professor of biology, recently published an article in the Journal of Biological Chemistrywith four student authors: Karly Ackermann, Rebecca Florke, Shannon Reyes and Brooke Tader. The paper, “TCL/RhoJ Plasma Membrane Localization and Nucleotide Exchange is Coordinately Regulated by Amino Acids Within the N-terminus and a Distal Loop Region”, studies the biochemistry of a protein called TCL, which may be involved in the process of developing blood vessels.
