League of American Bicyclists workshop, Sept. 15-16

Bemidji State University and the League of American Bicyclists is offering a nine-hour Traffic Skills 101 course to teach a full understanding of vehicular bicycling.

The training will be held over a two-day period, Sept. 15-16, on the Bemidji State campus. The Sept. 15 session will be held from 8 a.m. until noon at the Ozawindib Room in the lower Hobson Memorial Union; the Sept. 16 session will be from 1-6 p.m. in the Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex parking lot.

The course typically carries a $50 registration fee, but the league is reducing the fee for this event to $10. Also, through a mini-grant paid by the BSU Green Fee, Bemidji State students can attend the training free of charge.

Traffic Skills 101 is designed to give cyclists confidence to ride safely and legally in traffic or on trails. Participants will learn how to conduct bicycle safety checks and fix flat tires, and also will learn on-bike skills and crash-avoidance techniques.

The course is recommended for riders over the age of 14.

To register, visit bikemn.org.

BSU students can register in the Sustainability Office, temporarily located in the upper Hobson Memorial Union across from the information desk.
