The life of legendary Bemidji State University hockey coach and administrator R.H. “Bob” Peters will be celebrated July 16, 2022 during a memorial mass and celebration of life service in Bemidji. Both events are open to the public, but an RSVP is requested for the celebration of life event in Beaux Arts Ballroom at Bemidji State University. Peters coached the Beavers men’s hockey program for 34 years, racking up 702 wins, 13 national championships and 15 conference titles. He is also the only coach to lead a team to a national championship game in three divisions of college hockey (Division II, III, and NAIA). Peters passed away on December 15, 2021.

 

2021 Summer Golf Tournaments Raise $140,000 for Beaver Athletics

Alumni & Foundation’s Beaver Pride golf events raised more than $140,000 to benefit BSU Athletics scholarships and greatest-need projects this past summer.

Nine tournaments were hosted at courses in Bemidji, Walker, Park Rapids and Oakdale, with proceeds supporting BSU Athletics’ general fund, women’s athletics, men’s golf, men’s hockey, football,,men’s basketball and baseball. 1,000 golfers participated in the nine tournaments.

Dozens of local, regional and national businesses provided support for the tournaments through event sponsorships, merchandise donations and other in-kind support.Details on upcoming Beaver Pride summer fundraising events can be found at bsualumni.org/SummerEvents

Eight Beavers inducted into Athletics Hall of Fame

The BSU Athletics Hall of Fame Weekend was held January 21-22 in Bemidji. Events included an alumni athlete and coaches social, BSU Track & Field alumni track meet and men’s and women’s hockey reunions. The weekend’s main event — the Athletics Hall of Fame banquet and ceremony — was held was held January 22 in the Beaux Arts Ballroom on campus. Eight former Beavers were inducted into the Hall of Fame, which recognizes alumni, former coaches, administrators and others who have excelled and brought acclaim to the university through their accomplishments.

Nearly $200,000 Raised During Day of Giving

606 donors from around the country donated $194,548 for students during Bemidji State’s Day of Giving on February 22, 2022.

The 24-hour online giving challenge saw donors support over 24 different areas on campus including student scholarships, NCLEX nursing exam fees, undergraduate research projects, emergency student grants and BSU Athletics.

Hockey Fans Cheer on Beavers in Eagan

More than 30 fans attended a pre-game social ahead of the Beavers vs. St. Thomas University men’s hockey game on Friday, December 3, at Union 32 Crafthouse in Eagan. The Beavers defeated the Tommies 5-2 at the St. Thomas Ice Arena.
