Get outside and have an adventure with your surroundings.  Explore the beauty that is northern Minnesota.  We will again be offering snow shoe and cross country skis this coming winter once we have adequate snow amount these will be made available and can be rented from the front desk of the Wellness Center.

Spring Events/Trips:

Snow Shoe The Lost 40  (1/20/24) – Experience the true wilderness that Northern Minnesota has to offer! The Lost 40, located in the Chippewa National Forest, is home to some of Minnesota’s oldest trees. Enjoy established snowshoe trails throughout red and white pines that are 300 to 400 years old. No experience is needed, and snowshoes will be provided! Learn the history of the Lost 40 and see why it is considered one of Minnesota’s greatest treasures!  Questions can be directed to Eric Howd at eric.howd@bemidjistate.eduRegistration is limited, be sure to sign up ASAP by emailing Eric to reserve a spot.  Unless filled prior registration will remain open until Thursday 1/18/24 12:00pm. Enrolled participants can plan to leave at 8:30am from the lobby of the Wellness Center with a tentative return time of 1:00pm. Free to current students of BSU or NTC.  Dress accordingly.

Nordic Skiing Opportunity (2/7/24) – Enjoy Minnesota’s trails year-round through Nordic skiing. All levels of experience are encouraged to sign up for an evening of lighted ski trails. This event will take place at the city park from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Equipment can be provided by the Gillett Wellness Center as needed. Questions can be directed to Eric Howd at eric.howd@bemidjistate.edu. Registration is limited, be sure to sign up ASAP by emailing Eric to reserve a spot. Unless filled prior, registration will remain open until Monday 2/5/24 12:00pm. Enrolled participants can plan to leave at 3:45pm from the lobby of the wellness center. Free to current students of BSU and NTC.

For the Love of Climbing (2/14/24) – Valentines’ Day Climbing Event, Whether you want to build a connection with your belay partner or fall in love with the sport of climbing, join us on valentine’s day for “For The Love of Climbing” event. This event will take place from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Gillett Wellness Center. Questions can be directed to Eric Howd at eric.howd@bemidjistate.edu. Free to current students of BSU.

Buena Vista Ski Shuttle (2/23/24) – Interested in hitting the slopes at our local Buena Vista Ski Area?  Let us shuttle you there.  Friday evenings 4:00-8:00pm Buena Vista offers reduced lift and ski/board packages.  Space is limited, please contact Duane Biehn (duane.biehn@bemidjistate.edu) by Wednesday 2/21 to secure a spot in the shuttle.  Enrolled participants can meet in the lobby of the Wellness Center at 3:15pm.  The shuttle will leave promptly at 3:30pm and return around 8:30pm.  The shuttle is free to current students of BSU and NTC, however fees to Buena Vista Ski area are the responsibility of the participants.

For the Luck of Climbing (3/17/24) – Find the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow array of rock climbing holds at the “The Luck of Climbing” event. This event will take place from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Gillett Wellness Center. Questions can be directed to Eric Howd at eric.howd@bemidjistate.edu. Free to current students of BSU.
