What is DLiTE?
We call our state-wide Elementary Education BS program “DLiTE”, which stands for Distributed Learning in Teacher Education. DLiTE is an online*, cohort-based elementary education teacher licensure program, spanning six semesters. Those who complete the program will earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. A cohort is made up of 35 students or fewer, who start in the same semester.
* This program is not 100% online. All required coursework in the program core is online, and students in each cohort meet in-person near Minneapolis three times each academic year for collaboration, live discussion, testing, and camaraderie. These meetings are a mandatory component of the program. Additionally, certain courses in the elective middle-level endorsement areas may not be offered online regularly.

The DLiTE program meets all requirements of the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) for licensure in the state of Minnesota. If you are living in another state and interested in seeking licensure in a state other than Minnesota, you will need to follow that state’s requirements for teacher licensure candidacy. Please contact the Department of Education in your state to learn about the requirements for licensure in your state.
