The BSU Teacher Education Student Focus Groups provide teacher candidates with an opportunity to share their experiences, perspectives, and ideas directly with the Office of Teacher Education (OTE).

OTE is responsible for ongoing assessment and continuous improvement efforts of BSU teacher education programs.

Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, Student Focus Groups will bring together teacher candidates from across BSU’s teacher preparation programs to participate in open, supportive conversations about their experiences, discuss what is working well, and share ideas for strengthening the program.

Focus groups meet virtually once per semester (fall and spring). Members serve one-year terms, renewable once.

Serving on a Student Focus Group is an opportunity to:

• Build leadership and advocacy experience for your resume or portfolio
• Be the voice of teacher candidates at BSU
• Influence BSU program improvements related to coursework, advising, field experiences, and student support
• Provide honest feedback in a supportive, student-centered environment
• Participate in flexible, virtual discussions designed to fit students’ busy schedules
