BSU Foundation Scholarships
Beverly and Kenneth Henriques Scholarship
Amount: Up to $300
Deadline: Feb. 15 each year
Criteria: To support foreign studies by Minnesota residents who are students at BSU, or to support study at BSU by students who are citizens of a foreign country. To be eligible, students must be attending BSU in good academic standing. Preference shall be given to students who attended Lincoln School, Bemidji, Minnesota. Awards shall be made to students who, in the opinion of the awarding authority , may benefit greatest from the experience of foreign study, or in the case of foreign nationals who might benefit most from study at BSU.

Harry F. Bangsberg Memorial Scholarship
Amount: Up to $800
Deadline: Feb. 15 each year
Criteria: Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Grad student participating in an Education Abroad Program. Preference to student with emphasis in Asian Studies who meets all the other award criteria, but if no such student applies, the award shall then be made available to students who participate in an education abroad experience and who meet other established criteria, even if they are not focused on Asian studies. Minimum GPA of 2.5

Richard and Evelyn Krummel Memorial Scholarship
Amount: Up to $1000
Deadline: Feb. 15 each year
Criteria: Participant in the Education Abroad Program and studying in a non-English speaking country. Successfully completed one course in the Global Perspective area of the liberal arts requirement. A sophomore, junior, or senior who meets all the requirements of the Education Abroad Program.

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, providing them with skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity. Criteria: Applicants must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant during the time of application or provide proof that they will be receiving a Pell Grant during the term of their study abroad program or internship. Amount: Up to $5000

Deadline: February 9, 2024 Description: Intended to expand global opportunities for students from all backgrounds who are pursuing post-secondary degrees. This is a paid internship with the opportunity to work in U.S. embassies and consulates throughout the world, as well as in various bureaus located in Washington, D.C. and at Department offices around the United States. This program is designed to provide substantive learning experiences in a foreign affairs environment.Amount: Covers transportation to and from DC, or wherever student is placed, housing and GS-4 grade stipend.
