Money Matters

The official currency of Norway is the Krone (NOK or kr).

Norway is expensive, even as a student. If you are careful with your expenses, you can get by on a 400kr ($65 USD) a day.

Making Purchases

You can use your U.S. credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club or American Express) to make most purchases in Norway. Be aware, however, of foreign transaction fees.

ATMs

You can easily withdraw cash from Norwegian ATMs, which are popularly called “Mini-Banks.” You can find them near most banks and public squares.
