Hey there! My name is Emma Niessink and I am from Brandon, S.D. about six hours south of Bemidji. I am a sophomore at BSU, double-majoring in creative and professional writing and mass communication! I play violin in the Chamber Orchestra and I love to spend my time reading, writing and hammocking with friends.

I am so blessed to call BSU home! I chose this college because of its extraordinary creative writing program, along with the proximity of the campus to Lake Bemidji. Nothing beats the lake life! I appreciate how eco-friendly and outdoor-loving BSU (and its people) are.

If you’re an incoming freshman, I highly suggest living in Tamarack. Anything above the fourth floor and lake view… makes for beautiful mornings!
